In observance of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Guidance and Testing Office of Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) organized a seminar on Wednesday, with the theme “It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace,” attended by the LPC administrators, faculty and staff, and officers of Rover Scout, at LPC Audio-Visual Room, November 20. Guidance and Testing Assistant Ma. Fatima Alvarez led the event with welcoming remarks. "Mental Health is an integral component of one's overall well-being," Alvarez mentioned. Meanwhile, keynote speaker, Dr. Maria Lourdes L. Evangelista, MD, a diplomate and fellow of the Philippine Psychiatric Association, and consultant psychiatrist for the Limay Rural Health Unit and Mt. Samat Medical Center, shared valuable insights about childhood trauma. Evangelista highlighted the types of trauma children may encounter from elementary to college, along with its short- and long-term effects, such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and non-suicidal self-injury. "There will be traumas, pero kinakaya, kakayanin," Evangelista remarked. The event concluded with an exchange of ideas between attendees and the speaker, followed by the awarding of a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Evangelista.
