𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗘 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | LPC meets Indonesian ASEAN Foundation for AI digital citizenship advocacy for Filipinos

Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) with Dr. Elmer De Leon, college president; and Hon. Remigio S. Tayag, Jr., chair of Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Education with the academic heads accommodated the visitors from Indonesia, namely: Mr. Armand Wirjawan and Ms. Vivian Wijayanti with Mr. Paolo Ordonio, executive director of Break the Fake Movement to present and discuss the program on AI Ready ASEAN Programme.
In capsule, the AI Ready ASEAN is a regional initiative led by the ASEAN Foundation with support from Google.org that aims to build AI literacy across ten ASEAN member States. It seeks to equip almost 5.5 million individuals, including students, educators and parents with essential AI skills to thrive in the digital age and use AI responsively and ethically.
In the Philippines, they target around 1.5 million Filipinos from various sectors in partnership with ASEAN Youth Organization, CyberGuardiansPH, SmartCT, Limitless Lab and Break the Fake Movement. By bridging AI knowledge gap, the initiative empowers communities to embrace technological advancements and ensure that emerging innovations drive inclusive growth and progress for all Filipinos.
Besetting partnership with LPC, it has succeeded in the conduct of An Hour Code Campaign among technology and business students held in batches.
The ASEAN Foundation appeals for developing trainers, such as deserving and interested students and faculty who can implement and advocate efficiently the program in order to realize its goal of making the 1.5 million Filipinos AI literate. A training will be conducted for this purpose.
Hence, LPC committed to accept the invitation and strategized to make it among employees and students as part of their capacity building initiatives, student-teachers to their classroom learners in the field, to students to coach their friends, neighbors. parents, siblings and other family members and to be integrated in the National Service Training Program (NSTP) that can be rolled out in their community civic actions and the Edukalinga: Senior Citizens Education program.
The two entities vowed for commitment to this noble mission through educating people.
Thus, a memorandum of understanding will be transacted for this purpose to be scheduled soon. #
