Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) on Monday opened the first day of its three-day Mid-Year Development Training on β€œCaring for Others and Caring for Self,” a program aimed at strengthening educator resilience through Psychological First Aid (PFA) and work-life balance training held at the LPC Audio Visual Room, December 1.

LPC President Dr. Elmer B. De Leon delivered his opening remarks, highlighting the importance of holding the training to ensure the college continues to provide responsive and high-quality services to its students and stakeholders.

Mr. Joemark D. Ablian, Director for Research, Development and Extension, delivered the statement of purpose, explaining that the activity aims to enhance participants’ competency in conducting evidence-based research and implementing effective community extension programs.

The morning session focused on Psychological First Aid (PFA), with Mr. Christian Khiel P. Unto, RPsy, a counselor from Solace Asia, leading the discussion.

He presented the foundational concepts and ethical principles that guide the proper delivery of PFA, emphasizing the importance of providing timely, compassionate, and non-intrusive support to individuals in distress.

Through a series of role-playing activities simulating real-life crisis scenarios, attendees were able to practice appropriate response techniques, apply various PFA models, and gain confidence in offering immediate psychological support when needed.

Meanwhile, Mr. Javee G. Tamondong, RPm, a counselor from Solace Asia, led the afternoon session, which centered on work–life balance.

Mr. Tamondong discussed practical approaches to managing stress, maintaining personal well-being, and enhancing day-to-day productivity amid the demands of academic work. He highlighted strategies such as boundary setting, mindful time management, and cultivating healthy routines that support overall mental resilience.

β€œWith what we are experiencing right now, napakabilis ng mundo, busy lahat. Kaya it’s very important to know how we are going to make our life and our work harmonious. Hindi natin puwedeng i-sacrifice yung isa; kailangan mapagsabay natin,” he added.

LPC Guidance Counselor Mr. Dominic Primero delivered the closing remarks, thanking the resource speakers and participants for their active engagement throughout the day. #
