Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) on Wednesday wrapped up the third day of its Midyear Development Training Program, which centered on building a research mindset and equipping educators with tools to use school data for action research, held at the Audio Visual Room, December 3.
The last session, themed βCultivating a Research Mindset: Exploring AR-Worthy Issues and Utilizing School Data to Drive Action Research,β opened with words from LPC Academic Director April R. Cruz.
College President Dr. Elmer B. De Leon led the first part of the dayβs discussions, introducing reflective practice as a foundation for identifying action research topics.
Participants were divided into groups to identify an LPC-specific school problem and draft a research title. From five outputs, one was selected for presentation, with group representatives briefing the plenary on their work.
Dr. De Leon later offered critiques and recommendations to help refine the proposals for actual research application, concluding the morning session.
After a midday break, LPC Research Development and Extension Director Joemark D. Ablian, led the second part, which covered translating classroom issues into researchable questions and developing research problems.
He also discussed the basic data analysis techniques, including descriptive statistics and thematic analysis for action research.
The groups again presented expanded versions of their proposed studies, detailing their identified problems, research titles, and planned methodologies. Mr. Ablian then offered further critiques, emphasizing the suitability of their methods.
He ended his lecture by highlighting the collegeβs approved incentivization program, designed to motivate and encourage employees to engage further in research.
Dr. John Levy Rueda, head of the Business and Accountancy Department, closed the program with remarks emphasizing the value of continuous learning and the participantsβ commitment to improvement. #
